Web Team Internship at Oxfam International

Internship Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the International (OI) Web Team to assist in the delivery and maintenance of content for OI's multilingual web site and sub-sites.
Key Intern Responsibilities

•Contribute to keeping the Oxfam International website and other digital communications up-to-date and reflective of Oxfam priorities, by researching, writing and editing content.

•Create and edit content in the content management system, including articles, press materials, files, links, uploading images.

•Research stories, articles and other engaging content available on Oxfam affiliates’ websites to be highlighted on OI website.

•Identify and fix broken links and missing files, images, alt text, etc.

•Help ensure consistency and completeness of metadata and content tagging.

•Coordinate logistics around meetings, as required.

There is also opportunity to contribute to new projects that the Webteam is working on.

These projects will bring the intern into contact with the national Oxfam affiliate organizations.

The post-holder is expected to develop a good understanding of the main focuses of the organization and the processes which support our work.


The post-holder will work to a specific work plan and objectives and there will be regular opportunities to discuss progress against these.

Key Intern Competencies

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•English fluency required. French and/or Spanish highly desirable.

•Experience with managing online content (via content management system) and with photo editing software (e.g. Photoshop) would be a plus.

•Interest in social networking platforms and new internet technologies.

•Accuracy, consistency and attention to detail.

•Proven organizational and time management skills.

•Familiarity with common office software programs (e.g. Lotus Notes, Word and Excel).

•Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

You must be eligible to do unpaid work in the UK

Please note: This is a six-month, voluntary, unpaid internship. (We are able to provide reasonable travel expenses and, expenses for lunch for each full day worked)
